Police Charged Suspect With Murder Of Man In West Charlotte

CMPD has charged Davenon Alexander Farmer, 39, in the murder of a man in northwest Charlotte.

Police said officers responded to a call of assault with a deadly weapon around 10 p.m. Sunday and found William Jacobs, 44, who had been in shot in an apartment off Tuckaseegee Road.  He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Farmer was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and murder, according to police. He was apprehended on the 2600 block of Columbus Circle. He is now in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Police said in an earlier statement that Jacobs and Farmer knew each other. They both were inside the apartment together with other people when the shooting occurred. The witnesses at the scene were taken to CMPD headquarters and interviewed by homicide detectives.
