North Carolina Gang Member Sentenced For Link To Murders

A federal judge has sentenced a Charlotte-area gang member to 13 years in prison for her part in the murders of a Lake Wylie couple.

Court records show Briana Johnson was a member of the Charlotte-area branch of the United Blood Nation gang, also known as the Bloods. Prosecutors said she was present at gang meetings during which the 2014 murders of Doug and Debbie London were discussed.

The Londons were being targeted after gang members attempted to rob their mattress store but were thwarted by Doug London, who exchanged gunfire and injured one of the gang members. He was the lone eyewitness.

Prosecutors say Johnson was the one who later drove two gang members to the London’s house on Oct. 23, 2014, and waited as the couple was shot to death on their doorstep.

On Thursday, she was sentenced to 13 years in prison, plus five years of supervised release. She’s the 10th person to be sentenced in the couple’s murder. Three others are awaiting trial.
