Police in Charlotte have identified the teenaged victim of a fatal shooting this weekend. According to CMPD, police were called at 12:01 a.m. Saturday to investigate a reported assault with a deadly weapon in the 2400 block of Carmine Street, off Statesville Avenue. Officers found Jarquavise Demonta White, 16, in the front yard of a home with an apparent gunshot wound. White was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police have not identified a suspect or motive in the shooting. It’s the fifth homicide in Charlotte this year.
BofA Exec Leaves After Reported Sexual Misconduct Allegation
Bank of America has confirmed that a senior executive left the company this month, but the bank isn’t commenting on a report that the departure came amid a sexual misconduct investigation. The New York Times reported Friday that New York-based managing director and hedge fund expert Omeed Malik, 38, left Bank of America after a female banker accused him of inappropriate sexual conduct. The Associated Press reports that the company confirmed only that Malik is no longer an employee, as of the week of January 8. The Times reported that it could not reach Malik or his lawyer, for comment.
Boulder Kills Florida Teen During SC Hike
Authorities say a teenager from Florida was killed when he was struck by a boulder while hiking in Upstate South Carolina. A Greenville County coroner said Jacob Acker, 18, was hiking with a group near Wildcat Branch Falls on Friday. A statement from the coroner said a large boulder shifted and rolled down a hill, striking the teenager.
