Anyone with Internet access can get to the data dashboard to learn whether the district is meeting its long-term goals. The public can look up a wide range of information including key indicators of student performance across schools, real time school bus arrivals and financial audits. Superintendent Peter Gorman says it keeps operations transparent. "Let's get that clear that a lot of this was already out there. But it just wasn't in a usable format. One easy to find location," he says. Gorman says the data dashboard will not replace in-person visits to schools. It also does not show individual student information. Gorman says it cost $600,000. He says CMS is trying to secure a grant to add more features to the project.
