(3/7/05) A Northwestern University study has found it is safe to give pregnant women epidurals ealier in labor without increasing their risk for c-section. Previously doctors were concerned that giving an epidural too early could slow or stop labor thus making c-section likely. Dr. Dana Hershey of Charlotte's Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants and Chief of Obstetrical Anesthesia at CMC discussed the study with WFAE's Jaime Bedrin.
