Mecklenburg County grew by about 60 people a day last year. U.S. Census Bureau data shows the county’s population increased by 22,000 from July 2016 through June 2017, making it home to 1,076,837 residents.
Across the state line, York County, SC, grew by nearly 8,000 residents, or about 3 percent. Its population now stands at about 266,439. It’s grown by 18 percent since 2010. Lancaster County has grown 21 percent since 2010. Its population is 92,550, an increase of about 3,000 from 2016.
