(2/21/08) Seventeen officials from Mecklenburg and Union counties are beginning a year-long effort to re-do the region's long-term transportation plan. Area residents are being invited to offer their input, starting today at a workshop from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Government Center in uptown Charlotte. For more on the process that lies ahead, WFAE's Scott Graf spoke with Bob Cook, a City of Charlotte transportation planner and the secretary of the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization. Besides today's meeting, another will be held Thursday, February 28, in Monroe. The organization also welcomes comments at its website, www.mumpo.org.
