A recent series by McClatchy Newspapers, including The Charlotte Observer, proves that there are still some things newspapers do best, even in a digital world. This series uncovered a range of fraudulent activities by construction companies working on federally funded projects. Among the infractions, misclassifying employees to avoid paying taxes.
