Lewis Family Update and The Nutcracker

http://66.225.205.104/CT20111214.mp3

Part One: Update On The Lewis Family This summer, we met the Lewis family: JD, a local acting coach, and his sons, Jackson and Buck. Jackson had asked his dad once last year, "shouldn't we be trying to make a difference in the world?" JD took this question seriously and began organizing a way to do just that. He formed the Twelve in Twelve group and planned to embark on a year-long trip around the world, doing humanitarian work everywhere they went. We spoke to the family just before they began this journey in the fall, so today, we'll catch up with the Lewises to find out where they are now, where they've been, what they've been doing, and what they've learned. Guests JD Lewis - Founder of Twelve In Twelve, actor-turned-humanitarian aid worker Buck Lewis - Eight years old, JD's adopted son Jackson Lewis - Thirteen years old, JD's adopted son who came up with this idea Twelve in Twelve Charlotte Talks | A Family's Mission To Help (First show w/ The Lewises) Part Two: The Nutcracker One of Charlotte's chief holiday artistic traditions has become the annual production of North Carolina Dance Theatre's The Nutcracker. As the production approaches its second weekend of performances, we'll be joined by the lead characters in this Tchaikovsky masterpiece, "Cavalier" and "The Sugar Plum Fairy," to talk about bringing to life a holiday classic, about the state of dance in Charlotte, and some of the things you might not know about The Nutcracker.
