In Jail, Elisa Baker Now Says She's Innocent Of Zahra Baker's Murder
Elisa Baker says she did not kill her 10-year-old stepdaughter more than a year ago, and that she pleaded guilty to murder charges because she didn't think she could get a fair trial. The Charlotte Observer interviewed Baker in the Mecklenburg County jail. Baker told the paper that she found her stepdaughter, Zahra, dead in her bed, and that the girl's father then dismembered her. Baker pleaded guilty last month to second degree murder charges. She will spend at least 15 years in prison.
