House Speaker Jim Black and Scandals

Sep 29, 2006

N.C. House Speaker Jim Black (D) has had his name associated with two scandals recently. A fellow, politically-active optometrist, and Black ally, was indicted on charges he wasn't honest while filing campaign finance reports several years ago. The Speaker's name has also been mentioned during the fraud trial of a former state lottery commissioner he appointed. To get some perspective on the effect this might be having on politics in the state, WFAE's Scott Graf spoke with Dr. Andrew Taylor, a political science professor at N.C. State University.
