Historical Writer Philip Gerard

Historical Writer Philip Gerard Philip Gerard last joined us as he began his historical Civil War series in Our State Magazine last fall. His brand of creative non-fiction helped tell the stories of Civil War families left at home, slaves and freed slaves and even the non-battle stories of the soldiers. Mr. Gerard has now applied that method of story telling to other events in history, which he has compiled into a book of essays called The Patron Saint of Dreams. We'll talk about some of the essays, about storytelling and more. Guest Philip Gerard - Author and UNC Wilmington professor. His latest book is The Patron Saint of Dreams, a book of essays that recently won the 2012 Gold IPPY Award for the Essay (by Independent Publisher Magazine).
