Headline Roundup: Hornets GM Speaks Out, Mercy Hospital Nursing School To Close, More

Hornets General Manager Rich Cho says the team is working closely with law enforcement and the NBA after forward Jeffery Taylor was charged last week with one count of domestic violence. At a press conference this morning, Cho had this to say when asked if the team has a policy on domestic violence cases. 

"We take domestic violence as a very serious matter and that's something we don't take lightly," Cho state. 

Domestic violence is one of three charges Taylor is facing after an incident last week in a Michigan hotel room.

Mercy Hospital School Of Nursing Closing
After operating for more than one hundred years Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte will close its doors in 2016. The school which is run by Carolinas Healthcare System will allow the current crop of strudents to finish their programs. 

A representative from CHS tells the Charlotte Observer the move comes as the system looks at ways to cut costs. 

SC House Speaker Released On Bond
Suspended South Carolina Speaker Bobby Harrell, is being released on an $18,000 bond.  The Charleston Republican appeared in court in Columbia this morning. 

Harrell suspended himself from office earlier this month, a day after a grand jury indicted him on nine misdemeanor counts of misconduct and using campaign donations for personal use. 

State Attorney General Alan Wilson accepted an ethics complaint against Harrell in 2013 and sent it to the State Law Enforcement Division for investigation. The case was transferred to a prosecutor after Harrell asked the court to remove Wilson from the case.
