The 3-bedroom home will be built to "green building standards" in a parking lot on Tryon Street where a number of community projects will be featured. Convention delegates will have the chance to help with construction, but most of the work will be done by volunteers from Bank of America. They include Brenda Suits who led a small team doing prep-work at a warehouse this morning. "We're building the components that goes into the wall - they're the window frames, door frames, headers, those types of things," explains Suits. "It's much more efficient for us to build them here in the warehouse. A lot less waste of materials so we'll be ready to go Monday the 3rd." Volunteers hope to complete the home's exterior by the end of the DNC that Thursday. It will then be moved to the Reid Park neighborhood for a low-income family who has met Habitat for Humanity homeowner criteria. Goodwill Industries and the US Green Building Council are also participating the DNC construction effort.
