A candidate running to represent a south Charlotte state house district has had his residency challenged. Democrat Brandon Lofton is a trying to unseat Republican Andy Dulin. He says he’s living in a house in District 104. The challenge was filed by a Republican who accuses Lofton of registering to vote using an address where he wasn’t living at the time.
The Mecklenburg Board of Elections shows Lofton changed his voter registration on February 19 to an address within two miles of his previous one. The board scheduled a full hearing of the complaint on April 3rd. Lofton says he’s confident that once the evidence is presented, the challenge will be rejected.
