The celebrity spottings have started. WFAE's Tanner Latham has been playing the public radio paparazzo. He's been lurking all over uptown, the EpiCentre, and Amos' South End. So far he hasn't seen any big stars, but he did attend a Rock the Vote party yesterday with a performance by the hip hop group Far East Movement and hosted by celebrity gossip columnist Perez Hilton. Listen to his rundown of the event on Charlotte Talks with Mike Collins.
UPDATE: 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5
About 75 people gathered around the MSNBC stage at the Epicentre last night to watch First Lady Michelle Obama's speech. Tanner stuck around after the speech hoping to spot some celebrities. He had no luck. He asked bouncers if they had seen anyone, but they said they hadn't. His colleagues have already seen Sam Donaldson, Karl Rove, the guy who played Newman on Sienfeld and Tony Shalhoub of the TV show Monk. But Tanner is about to make his first big score. He's headed over to The Daily Show now and will be talking to the show's executive producer afterward. Stay tuned tomorrow.
