CMS To Change Bus Stops After Student Was Killed

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says its relocating several bus stop locations around the county with a focus on making the locations more safe for students.

The announcement comes after an Olympic High School student was fatally hit by a car as she crossed a street to catch a bus last month. The collision happened on Youngblood Road in the early hours of the morning. The road did not have overhead street lights, and there were no crosswalks or pedestrian signals.

CMS says bus stop locations have been changed in the Southern Trace, Montreaux, and Creekshire communities, and have designated all bus stops on Youngblood Road as right side of the street only stops.
