CMPD Officer Arrested, Charged With DWI

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol arrested a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer for drunk driving in Avery County over the weekend.

According to a press release from CMPD, Officer Tyler Kishpaugh was charged with driving while impaired early Saturday morning near Banner Elk, North Carolina. Kishpaugh was off duty and driving his own personal vehicle when the incident occurred, CMPD said.

Kishpaugh has been with CMPD since July 2001 and is assigned to the Steele Creek Division. The police department said it has placed Kishpaugh on unpaid administrative leave while it conducts an internal investigation.
