A number of Charlotte Mecklenburg teachers have won teachers of the year but only one has received Broadway's Tony Award for Teaching Excellence. In fact, that one teacher is the first person to ever win the award. Corey Mitchell from Northwest School of the Arts received the honor a little over a week ago and we sit town to talk about the work that led to the award, his philosophy of teaching and the impact he’s had on his students.
