Charlotte Talks: UNC Charlotte Professor Heads To Home Country To Run For President

Mirsad Hadzikadic

Thursday, May 17 2018

UNC Charlotte Professor Dr. Mirsad Hadzikadic is leaving Charlotte after 31 years to return to his home country of Bosnia—to run for president! Guest host Michael Bitzer sits down with Hadzikadic to talk about his run for office and the reasons behind it.

Mirsad Hadzikadic has been a fixture at UNC Charlotte for three decades. He’s the executive director of analytical programs there and is an expert on information technology and data (and has even appeared on this program in that capacity).

But this week, he left that behind him to return to his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina—not for a visit, but to run for president.

Dr. Hadzikadic’s country is facing tough times and political divisions, and there’s a worry that this upcoming election could change the country forever.

Guest host Dr. Michael Bitzer from Catawba College is joined by Mirsad Hadzikadic to talk about the complicated political structure and history of Bosnia, the challenges he faces in the upcoming election, the support he’s received and his chances for winning the presidency, this hour on Charlotte Talks.

Guest:

Dr. Mirsad Hadzikadic, director of analytical programs, Professor of Software and Information Systems, the Founding Director of the Complex Systems Institute, and the Executive Director of the Data Science Initiative at UNC Charlotte.
