Photo Credit: © 2010 NPR, by Doby Photography

A special conversation with NPR Founding Mother Susan Stamberg. Mike Collins sits down with Stamberg to talk about her early years in public radio, working in a male dominated field and her thoughts on the future of radio.

Susan Stamberg, the first woman to anchor a national nightly news program.

She’s in the Broadcasting and Radio Halls of Fame.

She’s one of NPR’s revered "Founding Mothers" along with names like Cokie Roberts, Nina Totenberg and Linda Wertheimer.

Susan Stamberg has spent more than 45 years at NPR, as a host of All Things Considered and other programs, bringing the news and other stories to listeners across the country, and today, she joins host Mike Collins to talk about her life in radio- including her broadcast debut as a “weather girl,” about being a lone woman in a male dominated industry, about navigating through the new world of digital and social media as a radio host, and more.
