The fight is on between Matthews and CMS.  Town officials want to open the door to running their own charter school.  CMPD officers continue to pitch for higher pay.  Affordable housing was a focus this week at City Council, and Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan tells shareholders the bank is standing firm on a decision not to serve some gun makers.  Those stories and more with Mike Collins and guests on the Local News Roundup.

On this week's Local News Roundup....

The “fight” for Matthews flares up between the CMS Board and Matthews town officials who want to open the door to a charter school in the town. We’ll talk about what House Bill 514 would mean for CMS and for citizens of Matthews.

CMPD officers continue to make their pitch for higher pay, and several of them spoke at this week’s city council meeting. What was the reaction? We’ll fill you in.

Also at city council this week, the focus on affordable housing continued with the city OKing 11 affordable apartment projects around the city, but not all of those would be built this year. Where does this put the city in its goal to provide housing?

The headlines continued this week for Atrium Health, who will release doctors wishing to leave the company from their non-compete clause. We'll hear what CEO Gene Woods said in a press conference this week.

Bank of America held their annual shareholder meeting this week. At the meeting, CEO Brian Moynihan was firm about the bank’s new decision to not serve some gun makers after recent school shootings. We’ll discuss that and other news out of that bank's meeting and also the fireworks at the Wells Fargo shareholder meeting, where there were calls for CEO Tim Sloan to step down.

Those stories, a recap of the primary races in Mecklenburg County and much more with Mike Collins and the Roundup Reporters, on the Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup.
