On the next Charlotte Talks, with the school year near the halfway point, we get an update on some of the key challenges facing CMS. Mike sits down with a panel of reporters to follow up on some of the issues facing schools in the area
Back in January the CMS school board voted 7-2 to take a stronger standon supporting LGBTQ rights. The new multiculturalism policy is being met with both praise and criticism.
A local Charlotte school is also making news. They just announced that they will be converting from a Christian private school to a secular charter school. In exchange Mountain Island Day school will begin receiving about three million a year in public money.

The North Carolina State Board is anticipating making cuts to the budget, this comes after their first board meeting of the year.
A new study finds that the “gifted gap” that shortchanges Black and Hispanic students across America is especially bad here in North Carolina.
And CMS is finally filling the role of HR chief, a position responsible for CMS’s 19,000 employees, by borrowing an exec from Bank of America.
