The Charlotte Observer uncovered troubling misconduct in North Carolina prisons involving sex, drugs and gang violence-- by prison corrections officers. Mike Collins is joined by the reporters who conducted the investigation.
Last week, The Charlotte Observer printed a five-part series – a special report highlighting troubling revelations and corruption inside North Carolina prisons and the officers who fuel it.
They found a hidden world of drugs, sex and gang violence with some officers running lucrative contraband rings inside prison walls.
Other officers regularly have sex with inmates or beat shackled prisoners or force them to endure what some say amounts to torture.
Mike Collins will hear more from Charlotte Observer investigative reporter Ames Alexander and data reporter Gavin Off, who undertook this two-year investigation.
