Mecklenburg County's Shelter Policy
During our recent cold snap, in which temperatures fell into single digits at night, a Mecklenburg County commissioner criticized the county as not doing enough to get the homeless into shelters.
As a new wave of winter weather moves into the area, an emergency shelter was opened at the Grady Cole Center. County leaders were set to discuss the shelter policy Wednesday, but that meeting has been canceled.
We look at the steps that get the homeless out of the cold.

Ambassador Ryan Crocker and "Causes and Consequences" in the Middle East
Tension and conflict in the Middle East continue as they have for decades.
Almost no one has been more a part of US diplomatic relations in that region than Ambassador Ryan Crocker, who has been ambassador to Middle Eastern countries six times since the early 90’s, and as part of the foreign service in that region since the early 70’s.
Crocker visits Charlotte this week under the auspices of the World Affairs Council Charlotte, but before that, he joins Mike Collins, to talk about “causes and consequences” in the Middle East and the US involvement there, and his views about the future of the Foreign Service.
