A deadly prison riot in South Carolina this week ended with 7 inmates dead and 17 injured in a likely dispute over territory and contraband at the Lee Correctional Facility in Bishopville, SC.
Meanwhile here in North Carolina, prisons are in the headlines for their own set of problems-- of corruption by officers and violence in their correctional institutions.
Charlotte City Council Member Lawana Mayfield turned heads this week after a post she made on Facebook questioning whether the 9-11 terrorist attacks were real. We’ll talk about what she said and reactions from near and far.
Vice President Mike Pence visits Charlotte on Friday, joining with fellow Republicans Congressman Robert Pittenger, Senator Thom Tillis and Lt. Governor Dan Forest on a panel about a Republican led tax cut and jobs act. We’ll talk about the details.
In the next chapter of the Atrium Health saga, doctors trying to separate from the health organization have filed a complaint with the North Carolina Medical Board saying that Atrium is intentionally interfering with patient choice by misleading patients to stay in the system rather than follow their doctors. We’ll hear more.
