Friday, June 29, 2018

Jerry Richardson is fined $2.75 million by the NFL for misconduct following an investigation. South Carolina Governor and Trump choice Henry McMaster wins a runoff.  There's an exposure to Hepatitis in Charlotte, at an area restaurant. And Charlotte City Council approves incentives to bring an Amazon distribution center to the area.  Mike Collins and our roundtable of reporters fill in the details of those and other stories on the Local News Roundup.

On the local news roundup...

Former Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson was fined $2.75 million by the NFL after a months-long investigation looking into workplace misconduct charges. We'll go indepth about the findings and the announcement Thursday by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster won the runoff vote for the Republican Primary in that state Tuesday night, after a campaign visit Monday from President Trump. What this means for November, both in South Carolina and how it fits into the nationwide election story.

A Hardee's Restaurant near Charlotte- Douglas International Airport was exposed to Hepatitis A this month, with potentially as many as 4,000 people exposed. We'll discuss what local health department officials are telling people to do.

The story of family separation at the border continues as a federal judge orders that children separated from their parents be reunited within 30 days. This as a coalition of attorneys general from around the country (including North Carolina’s Josh Stein) sue the Trump administration, alleging that the president’s executive order doesn’t adequately fix the family separation problem.

In Washington, the Supreme Court decided not to take upNorth Carolina’s partisan redistricting case, sending the case back to the lower court. We’ll hear local reaction to that as well as to the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold President Trump’s travel ban against Muslims.

And the Charlotte City Council has voted to approve incentives to bring an Amazon distribution center to the area.

Those stories and more with Mike Collins and our roundtable of reporters on the Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup.
