Charlotte Douglas International Airport is switching to a new valet parking company, one month earlier than originally planned.
Interim Aviation Director Brent Cagle announced Tuesday AmeriPark will take over Curbside Valet service starting June 1. The airport’s current valet company, Park Inc., has been the subject of complaints of long lines and lost vehicles. WSOC-TV reports two Park Inc. employees were charged with driving customers’ cars themselves while the owners were out of town. City Council voted in February to award the contract to AmeriPark, following an open bidding process by airport officials. AmeriPark’s bid for the contract includes installing vehicle tracking and mobile payment systems. Park Inc. has been at the airport for more than 10 years. The airport says it will pay the company through the end of its contract, which expires June 30.
