Charles Best saw a need and filled it. That’s the short story. The more interesting long story is that, as a first year social studies teacher in the Bronx, he quickly realized low-income students needed school materials and couldn’t afford them. He started DonorsChoose.org in response to that. Since 2000, it has raised more than $265 million, funding nearly a half million school projects. There’s a longer story, too, and we’ll hear it from Charles Best himself.
