CATS Begins Simulation Runs On Blue Line Extension

 Blue Line Extension train

A train runs along the Blue Line Extension during a previous test.

Though it's not set to officially open until March, trains will begin running along the Lynx Blue Line Extension Monday between uptown and UNC Charlotte.  There will not be any passengers on board though.  CATS says it’s running a simulation of the extended line.

During the tests beginning Monday, trains will be making stops at stations along the 9.3-mile extension, opening and closing doors to mimic passengers getting on and off.   The rest of the Blue Line is operating as normal.

Any passengers going north will not be allowed to stay on the train past the 7th Street Station uptown, which is where the extension begins.

The Blue Line Extension is scheduled to open to passengers on March 16.
