More body cameras are coming to CMPD. They’re supposed to increase transparency, especially in light of the Keith Scott shooting. A closer look.

CMPD’s use of body cameras is set to expand. The City Council recently agreed to more than doublethe number of cameras in use, saying it would increase transparency.

There was a new emphasis on body and dash cameras following the Keith Scott shooting last fall. Public pressure led police to release videos in the Scott case, but a state law that took effect days after the shooting put a hurdle in front of citizen access to body cam footage.

Have the cameras lived up to expectations of transparency? Mike Collins and his guests explore that question.
