Avenue Q / Death at the Ball Park Broadway's surprise hit production "Avenue Q" has reached Charlotte. Not many critics could have predicted that an adult puppet musical with "full puppet nudity" would have been as successful as it has been in New York or across the country, but it won several Tony awards, including the award for Best Musical. The show runs in Charlotte July 22 - 27, and we'll be joined by cast members and perhaps a puppet of two as we hear how this unusual production came to be. In the second part of the show, we'll meet two librarians - and baseball fans - from Withrop University who've written a book chronicling the violent history of America's pastime, Death At The Ballpark: A Comprehensive Study of Game-Related Fatalities of Players, Other Personnel and Spectators in Amateur and Professional Baseball, 1862-2007. Hundreds of people have died while watching, or playing, baseball games. Some of the deaths will astound you with the scope of tragedy and coincidence.
