An Amtrak train carrying automobiles and passengers derailed in North Carolina, but officials said there were no injuries.
A statement from Amtrak said Auto Train 53 derailed in Halifax County late Wednesday night, with the four rail cars carrying vehicles remaining upright. According to the statement, the 394 passengers and crew members continued on to Florida. The cars were placed back on the rails and were also heading to Florida on Thursday. No passengers' vehicles on the train were damaged.
Amtrak officials said the derailment is under investigation.
As a result of the derailment, Amtrak said its automobile carrying trains were canceled.
