A 21-year-old woman who had been missing for two weeks in Charlotte has been found dead. Two people have been charged in the case.

The woman, Alexus Fraley, had been missing since April 13. She had last been seen near the home of 38-year-old Richard Jordan Jr., whom police say she had a relationship with.

CMPD investigators found her body early Friday morning inside an abandoned structure on the 9300 block of Dixie River Road, just south of the Charlotte Douglas Airport.

Hours after the body was found, police arrested Jordan at his home on the 8800 block of Eaglewind Drive. Jail records show Jordan had previously been arrested on April 19 on robbery and drug possession charges. Police say he had also been arrested for homicide a little more than a decade ago.

Police also arrested and charged a 24-year-old woman, Ashley Helms, who was located in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Friday.

Both Helms and Jordan face charges of murder and kidnapping. Helms also faces an additional charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say the manner of Fraley’s death is still under investigation. It marks the 17th homicide in Charlotte this year.
