It was reported this week that the city's WNBA team, The Sting, is in the process of being sold and moved to Kansas City. The team is owned by the Charlotte Bobcats organization, which was part of the deal that gave Bob Johnson an NBA franchise. Sunday Hunting

The North Carolina Wildlife Commission recently voted to pass along a study on Sunday hunting to state lawmakers. The study showed that 65% of North Carolinians are in favor of keeping the current ban on Sunday hunting in place. Twenty-five percent want to see the ban removed. To help get a feel for the debate, WFAE's Scott Graff called Chuck Bennett, a state wildlife commissioner from Matthews.

Democratic State Representative Drew Saunders of Mecklenburg County says he'll run for the House speaker's post currently held by Jim Black. Black has said he wants to keep the speaker's job, despite a narrow re-election victory and ongoing state and federal investigations of campaign fundraising and related issues. NASCAR's top drivers will cap the season tonight in New York City, the site of the sport's annual awards ceremony. 2006 has been a year marked by lower attendance at many tracks and declining TV ratings all over the country, in spite of some major changes designed to attract more fans. USA Today recently explored the slowdown of NASCAR's prolific growth in an article written by Nate Ryan. From New York, he spoke with WFAE's Scott Graf about the trend.
