"Talladega Nights" Opens

A film shot in Charlotte last year opened nationwide over the weekend. "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" stars fomer Saturday Night Live cast member, Will Ferrell. It's a comedy about a NASCAR driver from a fictional North Carolina town. The Charlotte Observer's Lawrence Toppman previewed the movie and he spoke with WFAE's Scott Graf about it.

381 Days in Civil Rights History

A Smithsonian Institution exhibition of a period in Civil Rights history is making a stop at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Main Library. It's part of "381 Days" a series of special exhibits and events related to the civil rights movement that's running through October 15th. WFAE's Simone Orendain spoke with library spokeswoman Rita Rouse about the exhibit that she says was sparked by a 2000 study on social capital in Charlotte.
