Shortage of Paramedics

An unsettling trend is taking shape in North Carolina healthcare. EMS officials around the state say there is a shortage of new paramedics to replace those leaving the profession. Alan Thompson, Assistant EMS Director in Cabarrus County, says the shortage is impacting his office. WFAE's Scott Graf asked him if it's affecting service to the public.

The Latino Initiative

Representatives from three counties in the Charlotte area are in Mexico, as part of a year long course called the Latino Initiative. It is designed to help them deal with demographic change in the rapidly growing area. Officials from Cabarrus, Union, and Rowan counties are visiting Mexico City and Guanajuato.
