U.S.O. Lounge Turns One

The U.S.O. lounge at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport completes its first year of existence this week. In the first year, 62,000 men and women of the military and their family members have spent time at the lounge. To commemorate the anniversary, WFAE's Scott Graf called Jack Ahart, the retired Navy Captain who runs the Charlotte U.S.O. He said the numbers are well beyond his expectations.

It was two years ago when Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, inundating the city and surrounding areas. A photo exhibit on the hurricane's effects a year and a half later is on display in Charlotte. The images were captured by young people from Charlotte and New Orleans.
