Part One: Queen City Theatre Co.'s Me and Jezebel. We've all had a houseguest who overstayed their welcome. Most do so for a matter of minutes or hours. Hollywood superstar overstayed her welcome by 32 days! Author Elizabeth Fuller met Bette Davis in 1985 and offered to let Ms. Davis stay in her home while there was a hotel strike raging in New York City. Over a month later, Davis finally left but her legacy continued as Ms. Fuller wrote a popular book about the experience. That book is now a play and Queen City Theatre is presenting it. We'll learn more when Charlotte Talks.

Part One: Michael Graves And F.O.O.D. Conference. A celebration and discussion of good design is heading to Charlotte this week. The F.O.O.D. Conference at the Mint Museum (FOOD standing for Food, Objects, Objectives, Design) will host writers, historians, chefs and designers to speak about objects we use to prepare, cook and present food. Among the experts is Michael Graves, perhaps best known for his accessible Target product line. He'll join us to talk about how he works to combine function and style in his designs and we'll also hear about the Mint Museum's exhibition, which is also called F.O.O.D., when Charlotte Talks.

Part One: Southern Spring Home And Garden Show. Earlier this month, the groundhog told us that spring is on its way, but if there were any question about that, the approach of the annual Southern Spring Home and Garden Show in Charlotte would have confirm that spring is almost here. We'll be joined by Joan Zimmerman, co-founder of Southern Shows, the company that puts on the Southern Spring Home and Garden Show, along with son David who is the president of that company to talk about why consumer shows are still so popular with attendees, and about the difference between consumer shows and retail stores, not only for the consumer but for the vendors. And we'll also be joined by one of the headlining garden expert who will give us some tidbits to get us ready for spring planting.

The country singer-songwriter out of Toronto puts a unique spin on the genre - blending in folk and rock and sometimes a little humor. Lindi has a voice that draws you in and catchy songs you might find yourself humming. Fun facts, she appeared on ABC's Nashville and has toured with Kevin Costner (yes, THAT Kevin Costner.) Part Two: SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody. Unless you've been living under a rock, you've at least heard of the erotic literary series "Fifty Shades of Grey," which has become the guilty pleasure of millions of women around the world. The risqué book's popularity has been made into parody, first on Saturday Night Live, and more recently with its own MUSICAL parody. SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody comes to Charlotte this week and promises to be a howling, rowdy comedic night out for (mostly) women from 21 to 91. We'll talk with cast members and the writer about just how this musical came to be, and the surprising enthusiasm they've seen from audiences around the country.

Actor's Theater Goes Equity; Local Theaters Applaud Move

Actor's Theatre of Charlotte is the first theater in the city in almost eight years that will pay its actors a professional fee. The theater company has signed a contract with the actors' union called Actors' Equity Association. The move is good news for other local theater companies.

Actor's Theatre has long wanted to be what's called an equity theatre. The theater's executive director Dan Shoemaker says this year the company finally has enough money in the budget to do that.
