You probably knew that. But did you know this? The Venus Fly Trap only grows in the wild within about 90 miles of Wilmington.</span></p><p><br><font size="2">Its range is shrinking. Development is one threat. And so are poachers. There have been several incidents of poaching in the last few years, and in May an estimated 1,000 Venus Flytraps were stolen from a Wilmington Park. That incident has spurred calls to make it a felony to poach the plant. It’s currently a misdemeanor.
